We were asked to produce a copy of Katsushika Hokusai’s Great Wave for a porthole in a private clients' bathroom. We achieved this by sandblasting onto a roundel of blue handmade flashed glass. Flashed glass is a thin layer of colour on top of clear glass. To create the various contrasts in colour the roundel has been sandblasted to various depths. The roundel has been bonded to 4mm clear glass to meet safety requirements.
We are situated at the Canalside Craft Centre in Stoke Prior just outside Bromsgrove. There are other workshops here that you might find of interest and a popular cafe.
