This window was commissioned by Creative Black Country in partnership with the Arts Council to celebrate the rich culture of the Desi pub within the Black Country. I designed the window to give the appearance of a traditional pub but with a twist. The window utilises some of the colours and elements of the sub continent and tells the story of the punjabi community who migrated to the area in the 50's. It also celebrates the establishment of the Indian workers association by Avtar Singh Jouhl and the visit of Malcolm X at their invitation. The window has received widespread recognition and media coverage and recently featured on Grayson Perry's "Full English" series. Special thanks to Aidan Mcrae Thomson for the glass painting on this project.
